There is nothing you could say that would justify cheating except you being cheated on first and even in that case you should just break up first. So, I am 99% sure he was innocent. If he was so bad, you should have broken up first

He hit me before any cheating started and when I was raped/assaulted so badly i ended up in the hospital he blamed me for it and called it cheating. Youre right I should’ve just broken up with him, I made a lot of bad decisions and I’m far from innocent. He’s far from innocent too though.
