No excuses but monogamy is a social construct mostly stemmed from religion, there’s also loose evidence that ‘cheating’ is partially genetic across the animal kingdom to reproduce with different dna combination varieties, and the umbrella term ‘cheating’ can mean a lot nowadays from how different people perceive it
