Yeah it can be really difficult to explain to someone who was groomed or has had that normalized. Definitely can be intensely emotionally draining to see that it was so obviously bad

You don’t fully develop your brain until age 25 and an 18 year old is at a vastly different stage in life than a 40 fucking year old. It’s fucking grooming and it’s disgusting

18 year olds are allowed to vote, they’re allowed to go to war, they’re allowed to work and buy a house, I’m pretty sure they can fuck whoever they want. If you want to raise the age of being an adult to 25 because you don’t think maturity happens before then, apply it to everything

I think it SHOULD apply to everything. The reason you can’t drink until you’re 21 is because of your brain development (and they tried to move it further back but it was public argument that didn’t allow that), and for insurance you aren’t kicked off until you turn 26. 18 year olds have SOME rights as adults but not all of them. While you can go to war, that’s strictly because of government greed for exploitable and strong soldiers and not because they have developed brains

Legally they are allowed to be in those relationships, but the same reason WHY the age of consent is important and punishable still applies to people 25 and under it’s just that the government doesn’t want to raise the age because of how many people who get into trouble from it.

She’s still a teenager (a very young adult who isn’t mature/fully developed) and he is a grooming pedo bc he likes children. 18 and 40 year olds have nothing in common and should not be together. Also 18 isn’t even a legal adult in all U.S. states, bc they are still to young to make adult decisions (besides those traumatized into adults as kids)

Yeah and the age to vote being 18 is actually dumb. They were just in high school. Most high school kids know nothing about the world or even politics. Legally yes it’s allowed but here’s the thing if I was that guy people on here would want my head.

Because an 18 year old doesn’t have a fully developed brain until 25. Also they are at two different points in their life. One is looking at possibly going into college and one is looking at retirement

Not to say 18 and 40 is a morally correct relationship (I don’t encourage nor condone it, there are copious ethical concerns, don’t get me wrong!), but as a mid 20s gal who dabbled with wealthier, stable, older men when I was 18-21, I did earn a lot of cash and outlook on the realities of the world😭 no student debt, nice car, stacked savings, etc etc. sometimes you gotta play the system🫣

So based on this, all the decisions you made before the age of 21 should not be counted and should be played down? People mature differently due to experiences and it’s bold of you to say that we cannot make decisions at whichever age we are
