I dont know how many times i have to say this as a white person. WE CAN NOT EXPERIENCE RACISM. Think about this for a moment. Have we ever been slaves to another race, have we ever witnessed colonization take our country?? No, we have not. Prejudiced, yes

We are not subject to systemic racism, but we can experience racial bigotry that does not have the backing of broad societal systems. And white people can experience systemic racism, it’s just that history happened such that white people are usually in the empowered position.

there are a lot of ethnicity’s that go into the white race that have experienced it in history so this is false

Looking up the definition to “ racism” immediately debunks this entire statement

My home country wrote a whole law calling for the execution of my folks on my dads side, and my moms side is Jewish and Irish. So. Ragebait is wrong and being ignored by me as per usual lol

When white ethnicities are subject to discrimination or colonization, it’s usually not because they are white, because whiteness itself was developed as an ideology to justify colonization of non-white places. However during post-colonial backlash in societies where whiteness was used as a tool of supremacy, people belonging to that category can be targeted because their existence is seen as an aspect of colonial oppression.

I think that trying to treat “racism” as if it only refers to systemic racism doesn’t really work because that’s not the colloquial use for the word. We don’t have separate terms for “racism backed by social structures” and “some people just being shitty”
