Well not commenting on the first part of this, the vulva is the term used for all the external female genitalia. There’s multiple different structures collectively referred to as the vulva. The hymen is one of them. It surrounds and partially covers the vaginal opening

Its good you are trying and putting yourself out there! You should tell your partner that you are new to this tho but do NOT tell them you are only doing it to see if you are gay or not since people feel like they are being used so just keep it to yourself. And to make it pleasant on both end you’ll probably want to look up some tips/anatomy for woman especially how to use the clit !
