Agreed, 100%. Given the political climate, really hoping that either a new, actually viable third-party pops up in the next few years, or else we see some MAJOR grassroots reform within the Republicans and Democrats, soon (like, guys, can we please wake, start thinking critically, and actually get back in touch with real issues and the world around us? Like holy shit).
Also, lil side note: glad you mentioned open borders, because the amount of people I've briefly spoken to on this app that think doing so is practical, ideal, and/ or a good idea, is absolutely wild to me. I don't think some people actually understand the reality of why borders exist, or why "open borders" is such a damn extreme idea.
No I believe you, it's probably the framing. Today if you say, for example, "I don't think dangerous foreigners, who have been convicted of or are actively committing violent crimes, and are not citizens should be allowed to stay in the USA", a lot of people might agree. However, if you say "I support Trump deporting bad people committing crimes that shouldn't be here", it's gonna be downvoted, largely because of the hatred for Trump, and the mishandling/ high attention on ICE and deportations.
