As someone who grew up super religious I’ve noticed something with my boyfriend I feel like he worships me in a similar way to how I grew up worshipping god

Felt this way with my ex. He was extremely unmotivated, I was a high-achiever. He would idolize me like a perfect, higher being, and I got to the point where I couldn’t stand it anymore. It’s great if it works for you, but just know your limits and set those boundaries early

Answer both. You can choose which one first

I'll start with him. It's not healthy to literally worship anything that is not god. Some argue worshiping god is unhealthy. Worship and idolization puts you at risk of undervaluing yourself and placing value outside into something external. It'd be healthier to view other human beings as our equals, fallable, imperfect, but love them anyway.

Okay, so what about me?

For you it's basically the same reason but in reverse. It's not good to be worshipped. Being elevated and put on a pedestal is going to inflate your ego in an unhealthy way. People's negative feedback will be harder to hear and incorporate. This can easily turn into thoughts and behaviors resembling narcissism
