It’s always “9/11: Never Forget” but when it comes to slavery it was “in the past” so “why keep talking about it?” I say it every year ❤️

Well one is over 150 years ago and one is 25 years. The people that suffered because 911 are still alive. Same thing with Pearl Harbor. The people that suffered under that tragic event have passed away. As it was over 80 years ago. Also if you want to talk more about modern slavery look into Africa, Middle East, and Asian countries. The whole military of Eritrea are considered slaves. There are more slaves today compared to back then.

surrounded by plenty of other posts that Also were not confessions. but I’m sure there’s no particular reason why this was the post you felt the need to single out

And if that’s your logic will “never forget” still apply to 9/11 150 years from now…? Food for thought ❤️

And people still talk about it in the history books. Your argument that we don’t talk about slavery is nothing but talk. Just a post to get likes before you just don’t like 911.

I never said we don’t talk about it. I was saying some people don’t WANT to acknowledge it anymore “because it’s been so long” So like I said… following the logic… *your* logic Will people still want to “never forget” 150 years from now? That’s quite a long time

Slavery is acknowledge. Like how do you want them to acknowledge it? There’s a holiday for the ending of slavery, there were repercussions after the civil war. Do you not know your history? As it feels like you don’t. Just a post to bash on 911 when people that are still alive from that event.

Babe, you’re trying to downplay slavery by saying it happened a long time ago and things like 9/11 and Peal Harbor matter MORE because people from that time period are still alive Like I said, I’m just following the logic YOU provided. In that case, 150 years from now when everyone who was alive during 9/11 passes away, will people still call enough to “Never Forget?” I care enough to “never forget” about slavery even though it happened 150 years ago in the United States, but…

Following your logic, people who died as a result of slavery don’t matter as much as the people who died during 9/11 just because no one is alive today from that time period…. Like that is weird…? Your weighing and valuing people’s death’s differently when all are tragic…?

actually, if you want to talk about modern slavery, you don’t even have to look outside the US forced labor, performed by captives living under inhumane conditions, compensated at literal slave wages, is not at all uncommon within our prison system. and that can’t even be cleanly separated from the US’ history of racialized slavery when we *know* that the so-called “criminal justice” system in this country disproportionately targets POC, especially black people

And I was never arguing whether or not slavery is acknowledged or not. Anyone can open a history book and see that slavery is definitely a chapter. Now is the TRUE history of slavery, or just the squeaky-clean, censored version of slavery… that’s debatable. But there ARE people in the US who do NOT WANT to acknowledge slavery “because it happened a long time ago” You cannot argue that.

I downvote, report, and often spam all off topic posts. I don't care about the content of your post.

of course! it was purely coincidence that out of the many equally “off-topic” posts from within that same hour, this was the only one you felt the need to reply to with “not a confession” (I did scroll back and check) probably you just printed out screencaps of all the posts you deemed “out of place”, taped em to a wall, and then threw a dart while blindfolded to determine which one you should respond to

I agree with the sentiment in the original post. I'm not picking on anyone in particular. Yes i routinely downvote and report off topic posts. Some posts are borderline. I don't care that much but this group is plagued with off-topic nonsense

yeah, like I said, purely coincidence! don’t worry, there’s nothing weird or incongruent about claiming to agree with a post and then going on to refer to it as “nonsense” within the very same comment
