there was a shooting in the town i live in on monday. at our local library. two people were killed. my heart hurts for everyone. i can’t stop thinking about the what ifs. it’s consuming my thoughts and i have to pretend it isn’t. i wasn’t even there.

but the library is meant to be a safe place for people from all walks of life, and now we have a town who will forever be scared to go back. we have little kids who will always think of this when they see a library. a little girl who will always remember this day while celebrating her birthday, because her dad took her the day before it. employees who feel defeated and scared. you always see this kind of stuff on tv. you never fully expect it to happen in your town.

thank you. i just feel so awful for everyone who actually was in the library when it happened. one of my close friends works there and i was so fucking thankful she was off work that day.
