Programmed like aliens? Bro it ain’t that deep. We have emotions that we’ve held onto after billions of years of evolution, and those emotions were initially meant to guide us to reproduce and survive. But now we don’t need most of them, and yet they still guide us more than logic. It’s not intentional “programming” it’s just a vestige of animalistic instinct
So what’s your response to the increase in depression and suicide and nihilism? You think it just magically happened? If someone doesn’t want sex, that’s fine by me. If someone doesn’t want kids, that’s okay too. The powers at be have always sought to control people. Now they have tech to do it. You know your phone tracks the strength with which you push on the screen to determine your mood to advertise to you when you’re most vulnerable? Nothing happens just because. It actually is that deep
Depression and nihilism have gone up because our positive moods arise in contrast to struggle and pain. Our greatest happiness naturally comes from the reprieve from pain. Now we our people rarely face war, famine, and disease. The greatest killers are age and car accidents. Without pain and struggle, there is no overcoming. And with nothing to overcome, a great part of our happiness is gone
Yee. Well society is dumb hehe. Not claiming to be the bearer of Truth here. But what I was trying to get to, like I know not everything is a conspiracy, but for example I can see companies making people feel insecure to make them buy shit to fill the void. It’s an excellent strategy. Create the market and sell to it. And I can map this behavior across multiple things.
Perhaps, sure something to latch unto. I’m actually at a wonderful place in my life right now. Completely disconnected from the news and from social media (except for this app which I installed yesterday), and I’m working on a business and connecting with family and community. But although there are some crazy conspiracies out there, not all of them are fake. We evolved paranoia for a certain reason. Can it get out of hand, absolutely. But as with any emotion, it does serve a purpose
Imagine someone exploring ideas and just just shutting them off instead of having the conversation. Really speaks to your curiosity about the world. But if you got the answers to your life all figured out and everything organized into a neat box, good for you. Personally, I’m not satisfied with the answers presented to us. I’ve seen too much pain. Slavery, pedophilia, trafficking, suicide, depression and all of that is on the rise.
