We were hanging out at his place one evening and I asked him why he keeps calling me his future wife, he said because I am, I laughed and said he’s never even taken me on a date, he said you want a date? Then he put a blanket on the floor, lit some candles, and grabbed a bottle of wine and called it a picnic date. We ended up actually sitting on the floor for a couple hours playing cards. It was cute but like we were already hanging out and there was no planning so I don’t think it’s a date

Nah that’s 100% a date fam. It wasn’t a casual hang out. It doesn’t have to be meticulously planned to be a date. Dates can 100% be spontaneous and some of the best ones are

I promise I’m not trying to sound ungrateful because genuinely I had a great time and it was fun, but I guess I’ve just never been on a spontaneous unplanned date before so that’s why I didn’t think of it as one. Maybe it is and I just have a bad perspective

I’m not taking it that way don’t worry. If he was consistently showing that type of effort I’d understand where he’s coming from but being flip floppy means he’s either just using it as a bit (red flag) or he’s actually trying to do better about commitment but scared to fuck it up with you (green flag if he actually continues real effort into improving)
