How people talk about bisexual people even though statistically it’s way more likely for a bisexual person to find a straight partner than a gay/bi one.

i mean, it’s true that some people do fake it for whatever reason. some people give themselves certain labels because they’re still trying to find their identity. some people are genderqueer but are too wrapped up in being “socially accepted” to explore or find themselves. i’ve never met a gender queer person who just one day turned around and went “haha nvm i got you all, i don’t need pronouns >:)” like that’s just not a thing

I’ve experienced a lot of love and support for being queer, the community is pretty great. I get why someone would want to be a part of that. I’ve seen people fake it before. It’s nothing that weird

The line between faking being queer and genuinely experimenting is WAY blurrier than y'all think. A big part of gender IS the way you express yourself to others. Sure you can lie about feeling like another gender inside but can you really lie about identifying as it? I also think y'all overestimate the harm of faking it. It's doing themselves a disservice more than anything. And tbh they ultimately have a right to do what they want and they don't owe you any proof of their identity. Sorry!

Nah, I feel like it’s more common with teens still learning about themselves. I knew a trans person that transitioned late middle school, and they are still trans. Every other trans person I met in high school stopped being trans when it was no longer giving them the attention they wanted. I hope people are still using “transness” as adults when other people are risking their lives just being who they are

Genderqueer as a label is like how non-binary people identified before the term “non-binary” was coined in the mainstream. Really it’s any queering of your gender, but mostly in a way that doesn’t fit the predefined gender binary! It’s got some rich and interesting history behind it so I deffo recommend looking it up and reading about it sometime

When ppl are uncomfortable with themselves sometimes they lie abt who they are. Sometimes they can even get complexes abt it. But figuring out who you are is a messy process. You never really know who’s lying abt themselves until they reveal it somehow. The post pokes fun at that messiness by using a picture of a detective from the show Dexter. In the show, Dexter is a murderer that works with the detective. The detective suspects that Dexter is lying but has no evidence

I get what you mean, but “faking” isnt the word you’re looking for 😭 your post reads like you’re saying a lot of cis people are malicious and lying about being trans for clout/attention. that’s common transphobic rhetoric, and it’s why people responded like they did. you’re talking about people who are questioning if they’re trans but end up realizing they were insecure instead of dysphoric. maybe they’re faking for themselves & others, but that wasn’t communicated whatsoever in the post

no real, so many men like men and are too weird abt it to realize, but like the amount of ppl i've met that said they were bi and then in the same sentence say "i'd never date a person of the same sex" is insane.

Is it though? Sexual attraction and romantic inclination do not have to be the same. But if people were aware that you were sleeping with both gender while openly only dating heterosexually, it’s not like people would make exceptions and say “oh they’re not really bi because they would never date their own gender”

upvote 3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 4h

i specifically used the word "date" because i knew if i said "be romantic with" somebody would write a paragraph like this. i'm being so fr there are so many ppl that i know that say they are bi and have zero attention to the same sex. romantic or sexual. and the fact that i have to be this specific in my wording is a whole other conversation about the forced intellectualism that the internet has.
