if you make it a point to tell someone that their god isn’t real in every religious space you enter, you’re an insufferable cunt. every documented culture in history has believed in the power of spirits and/or god. your beliefs are an anomaly in history.

As someone who thinks atheism is valid, I agree. There’s a difference between just living your life as a nonbeliever and taking every chance you get to mock others for something personal to them.

You are describing an asshole, but just cause beliefs are an anomaly in history doesn’t invalidate them. Modern thinking allowed us to progress pass many archaic ideas that were harmful to society.

Everyone thinks they’re Richard Dawkins and a cool kid bc they latched onto the most popular, normie, vapid, empty, nihilistic take of our time

Maybe I should have said belief system instead of take. Bc it is a belief system and a religion in itself after all. A model of the world

modern thinking is great! being an asshole in religious spaces just because it’s against when you believe isn’t great. i never said that atheism was bad, believe what you want. but unprovoked disrespect should be called out.

I’m religious and also heavily question the religious texts for said archaic ideas. both can be true. being an atheist doesn’t make you a superior being to anyone. neither does being catholic or christian or Buddhist or Hindu or Muslim or any other sect of religion. only being a good person to other people makes you a superior virtuous person

the belief system is an anomaly. but not because of anything wrong or right about it. it’s just more widely accepted. which is also ok- people deserve to believe what they want. which ironically- is the entire point of this post

*it’s just only more recently widely accepted
