i genuinely thought black people couldnt be gay until I was 13 because the most gay people I had seen at that point was only on social media or maybe on tv and they were always white. This is why representation matters.

i had never met or seen other gay people and this was back before it was socially acceptable to be gay so the little exposure i did have to the lgbt community was only that of white ppl
