No economy to be an adult basically. Japan experienced this since 1990 and they are ahead by thirty years and economists have declared they have a lost generation. Eventually they’ll declare it here. Bad government policy and big business manipulation is what led to this over the decades.
capitalism keeps this empire in power. of course they’d teach us to fear socialism, it would strip them of ideological control. every system feeds its own legitimacy, even illegitimate ones. people immediately assume socialism to be synonymous with communism, which isn’t the case. capitalism and communism are both extremes, the former is just easier to market. if both were poisons, capitalism would just be a slower acting one—no less deadly.
you give them too much credit. they would never be direct about it, that requires effort. but it’s already happening. make gasoline essential for daily life, and then make it too expensive for the overwhelming majority of people. housing. groceries. healthcare. push the limits of these. let them starve and fight each other. “we’ll sit back, and they’ll do the work for us.”
they already exist outside of consequence, but it isn’t totally impossible to correct. the masses have this tendency to think that “one person won’t change a thing,” but if everyone thinks that way, then of course there will be no accountability. unfortunately, nearly everyone is desensitized and sedated by the overwhelming nature of today’s sociopolitical and economic reality. a country famously built on rebellion and outrage might, ironically, die a slow and quiet death.
