It’s not a matter of self expression. It’s introducing a very complex concept to a child that cannot fully comprehend it. Instead of introducing gender identity, we should just seek not to encourage gender roles and let them be kids
Why are conservatives and republicans so afraid of self expression. Like why can’t we teach the kids that they can be who they want and it doesn’t have to fit into the norm?

This is a take I can agree with if they want to be gay or trans or whatever letter they choose that's perfectly fine but they should know that on their own if theyre born like that. I never needed someone to explain to me I liked girls, I just like girls.

Not to mention, there are full on degrees that study gender and societal constructs. Kids should be learning how to be social with each other, how to navigate relationships with other kids, sharing, etc. They have plenty of stuff to learn and navigate, without throwing something so nuanced that they can’t grasp in the mix. Teach them to love themselves and others and they can explore how they relate to their own body when they’re older

I think the primary goal of raising a child is to prepare them with the skills and tools they will need to survive/ adapt to the world. They can figure out if they wanna suck a dick or lick a pussy on their own. No hate to either choice but making it school curriculum is abhorrent 😭

What does that have to do with anything?

School shootings are very complex topics as well

But kids aren’t expected to understand the nuance. Or they don’t need to in order to take shelter. They need to understand gender nuances if they’re going to go around navigating the complexities of their own gender and relationships to the world that they have

They don’t really need to understand the nuances, they just are being taught that you can express yourself however you want

Psychologically, children cannot grasp abstract concepts until middle school at the earliest. In elementary school, they’re trying to learn what acceptable behavior looks like, developing peer relationships, basic language and arithmetic. Abstract concepts should be reserved until they can process them properly

No, that's always been taught. To teach that that's all you have to say. They're bringing LGBT specific curriculum in which is something that simply has no place in a public classroom.

That is just fundamentally untrue. A 4 year old can see a trans person and ask his mom or dad “are they a boy or a girl?” And the parent can say something simplified like “well they were a boy but then they realized they like being a girl more” like if you don’t have a rigid identity system ingrained in your subconscious it’s very easy to understand

Sure you can tell them that, but if you’re teaching that to a child and expecting them to grasp it, you’re setting them up for failure

I mean if you wanted to make it more binary and physical you could say “they liked playing with Barbie more than monster trucks” or something idk
