True yes, I don’t understand the whole industry and trade networks but they always say the US has the most oil reserves and now ontop that we have Venezuela’s reserves, idk how we aren’t self sufficient with using our own oil to maintain low prices. Idk why some Western countries have continued trade with Iran when they want the downfall of the West and same with Europe getting gas from Russia helping them in the war against Ukraine. It mostly has to be the oil companies taking advantage of us

Our own oil reserves are not set up for usable gasoline, and our trade infrastructure for oil is geared towards export. Essentially it’s like turning a gas vehicle to an electric vehicle. But to your point, OPEC and other oil companies know this and they directly control the price of oil per barrel. They profit while we, and the rest of the world are thrown into turmoil due to skyrocketing oil prices.

Is someone actually going to answer or just downvote my question? In the context of gas prices what is so special about looking at Denmark or Iceland government? I looked them up to see and saw there were some women in it and asked if you were talking about that but is there a certain law/ regulation that keeps gas prices low in those countries?

Do you seriously not understand that different situations can have different causes? Gas prices rose in 2022 because Putin started the Ukraine war. Gas prices are high now because TRUMP started the Iran war. So yes, in certain cases, the President influences gas prices, and in other cases, he doesn’t

Oil is a GLOBAL commodity. The US doesn’t just have lower prices because it has oil reserves. US refineries are also not set up to process US shale

Technicality is important I’d say because sure you could say he started the war but it was long overdue as the government funded many trrist organizations in the region. If someone kept shouting at you ‘we are going to klll your family and set your house on flre’ and you shoot them before they can, they kinda did that to themselves (the government not the civilians)

If anything I hope that this makes the US oil industry more self reliant in the future and not reliant on global trade to process crude oil, I don’t see much reasoning to help Europe trade with oil if they keep getting it from Russia funding their war with Ukraine and many of those European nations refused to help with Iran so okay they don’t help us we won’t help them 🤷‍♂️
