don’t even. conservatives are the ones preaching meritocracy and not viewing people only in the context of their skin color. liberals are the ones who make everything about race. the whole idea behind dei is to make it easier for people of color, who you’re insinuating are incapable of getting a proper job based off merit alone. do you realize how racist that whole concept is? “here take the job, we know you wouldn’t be able to get it otherwise”. it’s completely backhanded and disgusting to see.

If everything were equal, a pure meritocracy would be a good move. However we don’t live in that society right now, so people need additional protections and opportunities.

so your argument is that things aren’t equal for people of all races in the united states? alright, name me one thing a white man can legally do that a black or asian or hispanic man can’t.

You’re talking about the letter of the law, not actual practice. Things on paper and in the real world are quite different.

Dude, have a little nuance. It’s not a “can or can’t” issue. It’s a question of degrees—a spectrum.

brother, i’m asking a very simple question. your whole argument is that people of color need to be protected and given opportunities. what is it they need protection from? what opportunities do white people have that they don’t?

In theory everyone can get a job. But if an applicant has a “white sounding name” they’re 50% more likely to get a callback than an applicant with black sounding name, and 26% more likely than a Latino sounding name.

Rigorous academic titles ≠ intelligence. It just means you’re able to do school work and maintain a gpa.

Exactly. Merit is no longer a thing for liberals. It’s purely race.

It’s an outdated study. In more recent years (as a white man) I have found it incredibly hard to find opportunity.

And racism isn’t dead. (Also the Latino part of my comment was from a 2017 study, if that helps.) I’m sorry you’ve been struggling to find opportunities. But the reality is that’s what people of color have had to deal with for centuries. It’s hard to build generational wealth when you don’t get past the door.
