Lol, this is such a horrible take. Politics heavily affects people’s lives on a daily basis. Healthcare, education, human rights, and people’s livelihoods are all influenced by politics. For many people being political isn’t a privilege or a choice to make their entire personality about politics. It’s a matter of how directly these issues affect their lives. You can be tired of political discussions without dismissing the people who have legitimate reasons to care about them.
im not dismissing those who have legitimate reasons. im dismissing those who make it their whole life. life isnt politics. theres two sides of the same coin. two people can benefit negatively and positively from the same views and one will say it should flip so theyre the ones gaining positively and the other is losing negatively. it will never stop the way it currently is, so why not try to fix our division than enforce it? all ive seen is republican hate on here.
not what im referencing btw. ill give you an example. the free market. some may find it easier to shop with fluctuating prices because they might find a great deal that they otherwise wouldnt be able to with rigid prices. those who stand for rigid prices may find it easier to budget and less unpredictable so they know how much to spend every time. does that make sense? im not trying to insult you with that question, im trying to present an example that properly represents what i mean.
you’re presenting a fantasy problem. if that’s truly what was at stake then yeah i’d agree with you some people take politics too far, but it’s not. depending on who’s in office, people’s lives are at risk. there’s no way to overcome division when one group wants to make life miserable and the other wants to make things better for EVERYONE
but thats what im getting at. people who want something believe it may be best for everyone, when it may full well not be. it is impossible for everyone to be happy, and im sure you know that, but the "fantasy" problem i proposed is entirely a real situation and just an EXAMPLE of my perspective. and at the end of the day, its my perspective. and i can tell we have different perspectives that we wont agree on, but i think its important to see both sides.
it’s an example that doesn’t demonstrate why people care so much about politics 😭 like genuinely rn we have masked men running around threatening people and arresting CITIZENS with no due process and you think that’s good? you think that’s on the same level as affordable healthcare? you really genuinely look at that and go Well it’s all down to perspective!
people HAVE seen both sides. for the third time one side wants to roll back rights for literally every person in this county and the other… doesn’t. and you’re confused why people care so much about politics? peoples lives are being affected! their ability to exist in this county is being affected! how are you that ignorant you can’t see that?
it does lol i dont need to re explain it to you. and yeah it comes down to perspective because if you feel a certain way youll see media saying they are citizens vs media saying they arent. how you stand affects everything you see hear and believe. its perspective. dont be so dogmatic.
Going to be real with you here: generally, I agree with you, I hate seeing politics come up in literally every facet of life, and often one-sides, closed-minded politics at that. But 1. this was one of the most important, emotional elections for a lot of people (top 3 I've lived through at least); and 2. This app is mainly college students, that are predominantly liberal. Conservatives, perhaps unfortunately, get shit on a LOT everywhere on here, no matter what they say.
