Voting for neither is not voting for both. Though there are A LOT of issues with establishment dems, republicans are generally way worse.

It‘s closer to voting republican, since they generally benefit the most from lower voter turnout historically and have more unpopular (and anti-social) policies

Nope. Bush v. Gore 2000 as just one example. Also the more anti-social policy aspect is absolutely true.
