i am the sole person that my boyfriend talks about his problems to, and i really want to help him and be able to take on both of our stressors but i can’t right now. i’m completely overwhelmed and he is too. i don’t know what to do :/

i have really great friends that i can vent to so that the burden isn’t all on him, but he doesn’t really talk to his friends about his problems and it is just too much for me

This is literally what a therapist is for. He can’t lay all of his problems on you. That’s too much for any person. If he has insurance he probably has a free therapist. Or he could open up to his friends for free

we have been talking about it but it just makes him overthink so much and honestly it is making me unsure about the relationship like i’m almost at my wits end

thankfully he did used to have a therapist but he got ghosted 💀 im worried if i tell him he should go back to therapy it’s either gonna stress him out more or he will become defensive

Encourage him to seek deeper friendships but also to look for a counselor/therapist, you’re not a professional so you can’t be expected to take on all of someone’s problems like that! Not only would finding one help you but it would also help him because he’d be getting professional advice and support strategies
