I think it’s understandable from both yalls povs because yes you’re used to talking all the time and you miss him and I would want check in texts too but at the same time he’s gone home with his family it makes sense to be more distant while he spends time with them - doesn’t mean he shouldnt reach out to check in and you should let him know it bothers you he hasn’t responded

This sounds like something you both should have a conversation over and see where you can meet in the middle. Neither of you are wrong but it just sounds like a fundamental difference in how you both handle time away from each other.
