I understand it in the YouTube demonetization sense but in genuine conversation, (unless it’s ironic) never.

I think society as a whole has monetized words and phrases that shouldn’t be monetized. And people who post and say stuff like “he graped and krilled her” are so stupid imo bc you shouldn’t have to monetize actions of someone else. The awareness has to be brought through exposure, not softening the words to shield weenies

All of the sensor words piss me off

A lot of the censored words piss me off. If we’re saying words like “rape” and “suicide” we’re typically talking about a heavy situation. Those words are supposed to be bad it’s dumb when people try to make it less bad. Those stuff shouldn’t be digestible and people trying to make it digestible are wrong for that.

No literally ti reminds me of “grape” like call it what is is- stop sanitizing it. Ik people say it’s to get around censorship but unless ur saying it in the first 30s of ur video, it rarely affects it

Literally this. It’s not like they are saying it for the entire duration of the video. And a lot of YouTubers, popcasters, ext. Put a warning at the beginning of their video for any sensitive topics.

It’s stupid either way. If the word “death/die/died” is too mature for you, then you aren’t old enough to be on the internet.

SA is a term that we can use that allows us to speak to our experience without naming it completely if we choose so.

But putting it in a term where people feel more comfortable saying it takes away from the gravity of it

Agreed but that’s not up to the content creators to decide. YouTube has enforced a “no bad word” policy for a while. If you say a word like “die” or “killed” you will lose advertising on the video (no money).

So you’d tell a victim how to describe their own assault because it “takes from the gravity?” I didn’t deserve what happened, but I deserve to speak out in any way that I’m comfortable to.

To be clear, I’m not saying you’re wrong. But more that, there is a middle road. Both views are valid, but it’s important that we let survivors choose their own terminology.

Say suicide. Those words aren’t meant to be normal and it’s supposed to make you uncomfortable because it’s a heavy weighted situation. Stop trying to Make those situation comfortable and less bad

It’s not my fault social media censors people for saying the word suicide. I adapt and work with the system. In real life, I say “Are you planning to kill yourself” because as you said, they need to be weighted. But online, where people censor creators, I can’t do that otherwise the word doesn’t get out.

I’m sorry but it really doesn’t censor people. Have you actually tried to upload anything with the word suicide. Have u not seen a single video with someone saying it? It’s all about your algorithm. Are you going to support creators that downplay those things or support creators that actually talk about events accurately. I unsubscribe from Amazon- this shit should not be comparable

1. I am a content creator. 2. I have seen where people have tested the algorithms on TikTok. 3. It’s not about supporting the platform. If you take your voice out of the crowd, you are not able to help. I’m not telling you your POV is wrong or invalid. Why is it not the same for my perspective? Especially since it holds space for yours?
