I feel like I rely to much on my rational mind when deciding what is moral/ethical and I feel like without that rationalization, I would do terrible things and I might be a bad person as a result

This may help; try to distinguish your perceptions into "feel", "think", and "believe" Then realize you have the least control over your feelings, medium control over your thoughts, and the most control over which beliefs you practice. Your rational mind is a tool to help deduce truth from thought. It's not as useful for making sense of beliefs. Most people find belief systems to be the most stable method of deciding on moral/ethical issues.
