Hot take: The average woman is funnier than the average man because struggle and comedy are intertwined. Men don’t know it because women are conditioned to not express themselves in certain ways around them.

On average I’d be inclined to agree however I do have some gems of men in my life who have seen the damn meat grinder and they’re the funniest bastards I’ve ever meant (also bastard meant literally lol)

it doesn’t really matter what the average is since theres not enough of a difference to matter since the spectrum is so wide. factors other than gender have much more of an impact, and the “men are funnier” or “women are funnier” arguments always seem trite

Hmm idk this post comes across as if men don’t struggle. Or are you saying that because women are socialized to behave certain ways around men this is why they do not come across as funny to men?

Women literally tell the cringiest jokes, when they see nothing is working they have to make it over the top sexual to try to be “edgy.” Not to say that it’s impossible for a woman to be funny or that no man has done that before, but its usually not a woman’s job to be funny, pretty much its just look good, or maybe even be traditional. The man is pretty much supposed to be, for her to like him.

also buying into the “men and women are fundamentally different in personality” thing isnt it, even if you’re trying to be “for women” by doing so.

this post isn’t saying that men and women are fundamentally different, it’s saying we’ve been conditioned to behave differently. which is true! socialization happens and looks different for both, but that’s bc of societal expectations and stereotypes and not anything biological

I read it more as women struggle and have to hide their hurt in less offensive ways ie. comedy they’re also talking very broadly but not about the totality

No i do, but i dont think they are funny. Judge judy is probably the only funny example of a woman that i can think off

If you don’t think women are funny bro you prob don’t like women as much as you think you do. They’re pretty and you like having one around but you probably in some fundamental way don’t see them as equals. Do you not like female politicians? Do you not like female musicians? Just reflect a lil

male/female socialization is actually an extremely nuanced topic and experts generally agree that generalizing it is both incorrect and dangerous. everyone is socialized in different ways and you cannot make sweeping judgements of either population based on it.
