This really what you want representing the right? This proves exactly why the opposing views cant be friends: I didn’t say the left is better than the right I said that the right is currently supporting many of my rights being revoked You said it not me

I’m right leaning and all of my friends know that I am. I got a matching tattoo with my lesbian best friend from middle school. She knows where I stand politically but I don’t let my political stances change the way I treat people. We’ve had this conversation together numerous times. And not only her, but a large portion of my friends are left leaning. If YOU can’t have a bond or friendship with them then say that, but it is possible.

I’m just saying I personally cannot bond with somebody who actively supports my rights being taken away. People are allowed to have superficial friendships, you do you, thats just my opinion though. I’d rather someone support me as a person than treat me nicely only to vote against my right to be treated well.

A superficial friendship with one of the few people I trust with my life? With the person who’s been with me through my highs and lows? Someone who loves me despite our differences because differences in beliefs don’t define the soul of a human being? Who are you to judge the love I have for my people? The love they have for me? I’d lay down my life for my friends now in a heartbeat, regardless of what they orient themselves as, because that’s what true love is.

You would lay your life down for a friend in a heartbeat, but you wouldn’t vote for them to be allowed to marry someone that would make them happy?? That is so contradicting 😭

What’s contradictory about that? I don’t have to support everybody in everything they do, and they know why I don’t affirm that yet accept them. Because they’re respectful human beings, they respect a disagreement. I don’t live in an echo chamber where everyone is another version of me, but people from all different walks of life. People disagree with me and my faith, and in their faiths I’m literally going to hell. Does that stop the fact that I’d also die for them, because we disagree on faith

You don’t have to understand queer people to understand that voting against their right to get married to someone that makes them happy is wrong. I can respect people who don’t understand it and don’t even want to understand it as I have a lot of of Christian family growing up Christian myself. I’m simply saying that I cannot be friends with somebody who does not actively support who I am as a full fledged person. I was also incredibly respectful as to how I worded my post. Its an opinion.

I can support the human being without condoning the actions they take, and I fully understand where they stand and why they do. I don’t affirm that. They know I don’t. That seems like a personal issue you have. They don’t affirm my stances yet affirm me as a person. Love shows no partiality in treatment. Love is long suffering despite disputes.

You guys can absolutely love each other. I’m literally not saying that I feel like you’re completely missing the point and repeating yourself.. If you were actively voting against their livelihood That’s just not a kind of person that I would want to be friends with CAPITAL I. As in ME.

Firstly, you called our friendship superficial. That’s not just a friend, that’s my family, and second, i literally said YOU can’t

Dude i don’t know you 😭 why are you taking shit to heart from someone on the internet. I said that people are allowed to have superficial friendships. If the shoe fits wear it then:You said it not me I just simply think that that kind of support for a friend in itself is superficial seeing that you just support them for superficial traits and not something from within like their queerness or orientation.

I support the human being behind the views. A human being isn’t their views. If you only associate with those who affirm everything you believe then it’s you with the superficial bonds. The shoe seems to fit well

This isn’t simply a view. This is literally a lifestyle and an orientation. i’m not saying everybody on the right needs to die, I respect them as human beings. I simply do not support their views and it’s that simple. It is not the same thing as not supporting someone’s entire orientation. but honestly, you do you!
