What I wish I knew years ago; if u suffer from PTSD or severe depression, therapy & medicine are usually not enough. U have to do something that will physically alter ur brain and remove trauma in ur body like TMS, ketamine or somatic therapy.

it’s such a scam how doctors always try to just push you into talk therapy at the first sign of mental illness. like bro I’ve been at that shit since I was 12 years old, I know by now that even with a good therapist it makes very little difference for me

I know right. Pisses me off. Probably because they know that unresolved trauma leads illnesses, something that they can profit on.

I’m already pretty seriously chronically ill, so at this point it almost feels like they’re hoping if they shrug me off enough times then I’ll eventually just die a preventable death and they won’t have to deal with my shit anymore 💀

thanks homie. didn’t mean to turn your post into a vehicle for centering my own angst though, sorry bout that 😬 on a lighter note, I’m glad you’re finally able to access more-effective forms of treatment after however many years of being sent running in circles

Well thank you. I’m still waiting to see how much it will cost to do ketamine. I’m hoping to do the nasal spray ketamine, called Sprovado

I’ve heard a ton of good things about medicinal ketamine! between that and the trials exploring low-dose MDMA treatments for similar brain stuff, it makes me feel kinda hopeful knowing that the psychiatric institution is opening itself up to the potential for actually-helpful usage of stigmatized substances

it’s like, sure, plenty of people have unhealthy relationships to criminalized substances right, but it’s also true that people who “self-medicate” that way usually do so because it’s effective for them. so it’s a relief that people in positions of power are starting to understand that well enough to create access routes
