if i went and commented on a lesbians post and told her she would look SOOOO cute with a straight man, that would be incredibly disrespectful because i wouldn't be respecting her identity. the reverse is also true. it's weird

Are we talking about real people or fictional characters? It’s weird when people do it to real people but in fiction I don’t see an issue Unfortunately this does also happen to gay people all the time from straights

If it’s fictional I don’t see what the problem is

I’m assuming it’s “gay people shoving stuff down my throat” or something lol

no it's not that. i do hear that argument a lot which doesn't make sense to me. obviously anything is annoying when it's someone's entire personality. in my experience gay people exist the same way i do without any discussion of their sexuality.

i think it just weirds me out that people try to force connections between people of the same gender in shows. for example the rookie. lucy and celina have absolutely no romantic relationship, yet people edit them into one when they're just friends. i think it's strange to try and create something when characters are straight. it doesn't fit the narrative

everyone trying to say "jade from victorious is bi, jades bi" she's not.. she has a boyfriend and nowhere is it said she's bi. there's nothing wrong with her being straight b

People in fandoms don’t ship characters because they genuinely expect them to end up together in the thing they’re a fan of, it’s just for fun. Sometimes people just think two characters would be cute together and that’s it, coming up with your own headcanons about characters can be pretty fun too

Also unfortunately there just isn’t a lot of queer representation in media even in 2026 so a lot of people just like to come up with headcanons they relate to, again it’s just for fun they typically don’t actually think those things are true or intended in the story
