No it’s not called being too woke it’s called having main character syndrome and a lot of Americans have it. They don’t understand power dynamics in different countries and how in groups and out groups can change in different places.

So I’m Ukrainian and there’s a war going on in my home country I was able to seek asylum in the USA and I got told that my struggles won’t mean anything cause I’ve never been a black American?? I don’t understand why me growing up in a war zone where bombs are dropped constantly compares to being a race

Not saying they can’t struggle too!! But I just thought it was so odd that they said I’m privileged just because I’m not black so I don’t really understand the American standards here

Honestly, those people were just ignorant. I wouldn’t ever consider them woke. Like yeah maybe there are privileges in being a Ukrainian woman as opposed to a black one (in America) but you were BOMBED???? You not being black didn’t help you in Ukraine! It didn’t help you get to America. Why in the world would that mean your struggles mean less and how are worthless???? Like that genuinely is mind boggling. Americans regardless of race truly need to realize the world is much bigger than America.

Yeah like the way you frame it I agree! In America I definitelyhave less struggles than a black person because I’m white but like saying that I never experienced true hardship unless I’m black I think is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard I don’t mean to victimize myself but I think war is much more traumatic to go through and seeing friends and family die than just being a certain race.
