i know i’m never having kids bc i wouldn’t be a good mom but recently ive been thinking about it more and it doesn’t sound as horrifying as it used to

I always felt that way until the opportunity to be a step mom fell into my lap. It’s been incredible to let a child into my heart and just love them completely.

aw i’m so glad it worked out for you! my biggest issue is that i’d almost definitely resent the child for how much my life would change so i don’t ever want to risk putting a kid through that lol

Yeah, I think that’s a readiness thing. I needed my life to change, and this gave me direction. If your lifestyle and goals would be kneecapped by parenthood, that’s a much harder adjustment.

for sure! ik i don’t have nearly enough patience/selflessness/literally anything that’s needed to be a good parent lol

Your self awareness about this is so rare and important. So many people just go through the motions of having kids without questioning whether it actually suits them, and the children suffer for it. They’re not a trophy of your success or a milestone to hit, they’re HUMAN BEINGS. It frustrates me so much. So thank you for knowing it’s not for you. You’re solid.

thank you so much!! its definitely something i take very seriously, which is why i think im so unsure about it. i’d love to have a baby of my own but i also think fundamentally i am not fit to be a parent. id much rather regret not having a child than regret having one and risk messing them up bc of it
