i think im in love with my best friend. shes just the best. i’ve adopted so much of her style and interests and thoughts that im almost scared im losing myself, but shes just so smart and wonderful i wonder if its even much of a loss in the first place

i wanna talk about how much i like her but shes the only one i wanna talk to so i keep it to myself because we both know im too flawed for a relationship. plus shes a good deal older and i dont wanna make her uncomfortable with the age gap. I dont really know what love is supposed to feel like but if its more intense than this i dont think i could handle it. As much as i like her i wont ever pursue anything because i like how we are now, and besides we just know each other online

thinking about the implications of this all and im wondering if i try to move on and actually date someone or if i just keep things the same forever. Im so happy where i am and as strange as it might sound to everyone else i think ill keep things how they are, because i truly dont need or want anything else

i was the best friend in a very similar situation and it was really draining for me. this seems like obsessive behavior and it is unhealthy on both ends. i'm not saying this to judge you, but you should try to distance yourself from her so you can re-discover your own sense of identity. otherwise this could go in a really bad direction

I think i love weirdly. She seems so aspirational to me. I feel like a fan omfg 😭im being parasocial over someone i talk to every day i need to get a grip but youd get it if you were me

given that you are online friends, it will hopefully be easy to do; my friendship was in real life, where a lot more complications could and did come up.

Honestly I’ve worried about that too, since we’ve both had bad experiences with obsessive friends in the past (we even have one in common, lmfao). I can’t tell if I’m just interested in the same things theyve been introducing me to and its a normal exchanging of interests, or if I should be worried. Also I’m sorry to hear about your situation and I hope you got out okay!! 🫶

i would say take some time to focus on yourself and you will figure that out. and yes luckily i got out well, but it was a difficult situation and i learned a lot of lessons from it
