mamdani seems cool af and like a good ass human being. but im ngl it pisses me off to no end that people use him as a representation of Islam… he’s pro lgbt for ex… which sharia law outlaws. islam isn’t a progressive religion just because he is.

Can I ask what you know about Islam (like if you grew up in an Islamic household or something) or where you have gotten your information on the contents and intentions of the religion? Because sharia law isn’t always a good example of what the Quran actually says and I’d like to know if the Quran itself says anything about homosexuality

As someone who grew up Christian (but since has left) with the Bible constantly being misused or interpreted, I try to give that same benefit of the doubt to all religions and religious texts

I grew up Muslim. I read the Quran and the Hadith. Islam cannot work without the Hadith. And the Hadith is disgusting.
