They may be self degrading because they hate themselves. Depends on context tho

what i’m talking about is not them hating themselves. they do it to make you feel bad to do what they want. you can generally tell the difference.

I’d have to hear a specific. Like if he was saying he hates himself because of something you did/ didn’t do. That would be manipulation. But if he’s just like “I hate myself” idk how that’s about u
