I might be getting fired for recording a manager who was verbally intimidating a coworker. According to state laws I was legally allowed, but HR found out about the recording and they’re not happy about it. I tried to help using the wrong way, now I’m 💀🥀

They’re not happy about it is not the same as what u can legally do. They’re not happy you have proof that’s all

I hope you’re right. As far as I’m aware I haven’t broken any policies. However I also live in an Employed-at-will state, meaning they don’t have to have a reason to fire me, even if I didn’t break any policies. If they think me secretly recording a conversation on company property was wrong, then they can use that as their reason.

Yeah that’s every state except Montana. This is what I found online tho. I think you’re gonna be okay

“At will” doesn’t matter. Save every paper trail of any kind of retaliation. You can defiantly sue and easily win and your coworker as well.
