I miss when politics were a private matter.

Was confused af for a few minutes by this, but I'm assuming you mean like pre-social media, when we didn't have entire forums and message boards dedicated to arguing political points; people didn't base their entire personalities and preferences around their political beliefs; and people were just generally more reserved with certain topics, and civil in public? Because if so, I do also miss those times.

Politics are important in dictating our everyday life, therefore it's important to talk about it. You don't have to discuss it if you don't want to

2nd wave feminism coined the phrase “the private is political” to call out social inequalities as much as systemic which since has been used to advocate for human rights movements…you’re literally dumb as rocks for thinking politics is private… they just silenced people

They most certainly were and politics was treated with more respect and genuine education instead of “I’m 100% right and everyone else is 100% wrong”

They go hand in hand, people were more civil BECAUSE it was a private matter and didn’t want to disrespect or cross boundaries

Vote however you’d like just don’t force your political beliefs onto someone else when it should be private

It is though? Are you going to sit there and tell me politics views that cross your boundaries cross every single American in the EXACT same way? Politics being private allows everyone to truly vote how they feel and instead of arguing they can discuss

I didn’t insinuate or say we should politely ignore issues, I directly said “…and instead of arguing they can discuss” insinuating privacy leads to productive conversations. We both agree conversations are key for society we may just disagree on how we should get to that convo

Technically any discussion is inherently argumentative because you state a point and have to back up your claim. Also that’s def not what your message insinuates buddy
