People who say that the US doesn’t have history because it’s only 250 years old are annoying pricks.

Long enough to have a revolutionary war, a civil war, two world wars, segregation, etc. I see your point but we def SHOULD still be teaching US history regardless of how “young” the US is

“It’s not alladat” but it is though? The country split in half over ideological differences that we’re still experiencing effects of ~160 years later

This literally happens like everywhere man.

That doesn’t discount the fact it happened? History is history regardless of where it happens and regardless of if/when it’s happened before

Yeah but it’s not really a significant thing this happens literally all the time. Americas best work was within the last 40 years there’s nothing wrong with that

Right but the whole post is that it exists and shouldn’t be ignored. US history needs to be taught so we don’t regress faster than we progress (which is def starting to happen imo)

160 years isn't comparable to countries with 500+ years though

I don’t think that has anything to do with history. More so just lobbying and outdated systems

My point still stands. History doesn’t trump other history. They both add to history. I’m not saying US history should be taught outside of the US, but it absolutely should be acknowledged and taught about within it. Also the 160 is roughly from the civil war. The US turns 250 years old this year. Not exactly a short amount of time.

I agree, most of the issue lies with lobbying, but educating ourselves on societal issues and their roots/causes is how we fight back against it
