“veterans” is the odd one out here. it’s true that our government views them as disposable and doesn’t follow through with the support that’s offered at enlistment, but the difference is that when people are individually biased against former military participants, that bias is grounded in the reality of atrocities committed by said military. and with recent generations, participation has been a choice, i.e. not an immutable oppressed identity
