To all the “b-b-but he has Tourettes so he can’t be held accountable 🥺” morons. Funny how y’all find so much sympathy for one group but not another🤔….. almost like y’all are racist but don’t want to admit it. Oh wait, that’s exactly it.

He did apologize so he did take accountability for himself, but are you aware he has quite literally no control over this? It’s called involuntary tics for a reason, it’s not voluntary, he didn’t choose to do it, it his body forced him to against his will, do you really believe he is racist?

Anyway I generally agree but I do just want to point out again that other slurs were said and the bbc decided this specific one against Black people wouldnt be cut. We have to see both sides bc yes he deserves sympathy but so do the actors

It’s the kind of Tourette’s he has. And he also said other slurs but the bbc cut them. We should really be mad at the bbc bc why did they cut everything else except that specific one?

Because the way it works sometimes, is the person thinks “what would be the worst thing to say in this situation” and then their Tourette’s makes them involuntary actually say it, like if you actually were forced to do your intrusive thoughts. There was a bigger incident where a lady with Tourette’s was at the airport and her Tourette’s repeatedly made her say “I have a gun” same thing, it makes you involuntarily say the worst thing to say in the moment. Do you genuinely believe he was racist?

Terrible, brain dead arguement. That’s how the disability works. Is every single person with OCD intrusive thoughts related to violence, racism, etc a terrible person? No, because that’s how the fucking condition works. Yeah, it sucks to be called slurs, but it also sucks to have a condition which forces you to act against your mind. You don’t need to have a take on every single thing that happens. Sometimes, unfortunate shit just happens and the only rational response is to say “that sucks”

Nope. If you hurt someone the response isn’t “sorry IF i hurt you”. It’s “I’m so sorry that I hurt you.” Being called the n word by a white person (I’m black it’s happened six times) has made me cry every time. 1 it’s so hateful and to have that much hate for me, a stranger, is insane. 2 the questioning of “WHY do they hate me so much when they don’t even know me” starts. 3 is the questioning if I was actually doing something (ex: walking on the sidewalk) wrong? It hurts, no “ifs” about it.

Please see above comment. Yes he’s racist. He gave a shoddy apology that avoided accountability. Involuntary or not, his actions hurt people. They ruined a beautiful moment for the two gentlemen and reminded them, on a global stage, that some will only see them as inferior. How were they to magically know he did or didn’t mean it? And tbh it doesn’t matter. If someone driving sneezes and accidentally kills your loved one, is it magically ok because it was an accident? They can’t control it.

They couldn’t keep their eyes open while sneezing and therefore they took their eyes off the road for Two seconds and tboned the person you loved most. How much of an idiot would someone have to be to say you can’t be upset because it was an accident? Extremely stupid right? Because coming sense would’ve been to slow down before a yellow light anyways, or keep the steering wheel straight. Kinda like the onus is on the slur user to avoid situations where they’re yelling them at strangers.

If that means that the slur user needs to miss big events or sit in the back row or watch from a private area then so be it. Stop trying to minimize our pain because you relate to someone else more. So yes I think he’s racist (for his fake “IF” apology & not taking steps to avoid an issue he KNEW there was a high likely hood of happening) and I think you’re racist. & if you’re a minority then stop sucking the white man’s dick, hating yourself won’t make them accept you. 👍
