Yeah misandary and misogyny both are bad, but one is kills women and other one pisses men off. There is a difference.

This is 99% true. The one exception I think is male mental health, which is actually a genuine crisis. That being said, its almost always red pill men dragging down other men who need help. Most of the answers to male mental health are indirectly (or sometimes directly) found in feminist literature.

I think the issue for me atleast is that I agree Misogyny is horrible. To be then hated in the same way I hate when men do to women sucks alot. I’m fairly sensitive to things like that, especially when it claims that all men are rapists or something considering i am a victim

This is disingenuous and undercuts the actual problem. Patriarchy is responsible for both misandry and misogyny with too many situations to even list. They both cost people their lives and livelihoods, their freedoms and safety. And both men who perpetuate these flawed systems, and those who try not to, are impacted whether they want to believe it or not. Specifically I can think of family court as a matter where biased judges, either way, can ruin lives.

When are women going to care about Misandry as much as misogyny? When women commit more violent crimes against men than men do women? That’s the only thing that could convince half of you women who believe this that misandry is evil and the other half wouldn’t care if it was true, violence is wrong and so is emotional abuse regardless of sex/gender, only a misandrist or a misogynist would disagree

Misogyny by definition does not mean anything physical, it’s social oppression. And even if it was physical, you’re completely wrong. There is a current viewpoint that women can hit men, but men can’t hit women. Neither should happen, but the viewpoint that if a woman hits a man, the man can’t hit the woman back to defend himself is also Misandary, not because of the physical violence, but the double standard that we’ve set for women

upvote 11 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #12 15h

that’s just not supported by research at all. men report feelings of loneliness and isolation due to not having strong bonds with male friends and not feeling comfortable sharing emotions/ asking for help. a large part of why so many men struggle with mental health is because of the patriarchy and the standards it holds men to. society tells men they need to be manly and strong all the time and shames them for being emotional.

in social science, oppression usually refers to systematic and institutional patterns that consistently disadvantage a group across many areas of life. men are not systemically oppressed by women in the ways that women are in society. that is not a matter of opinion, it has been researched extensively

and ik no man here is actually seriously concerned about misandry bc if they were, they’d know the only way to end it would be to end misogyny. but that would mean they can’t complain on yikyak anymore :(

See, now you’re just making it sound like I’m saying misandry is worse than misogyny, which is absolutely not true. My original claim was that neither are worse, they’re just presented in different ways.

I agree, and I think that’s an OK way to end a conversation like this. There’s an infinite number of viewpoints on matters like this, I’m not necessarily saying yours are completely wrong or untrue, I’m just saying for the most part I don’t personally see it the same way.

It kind of is, misandry is a response to women dealing with a lot of violence and hatred imposed on them by men (as a class) through the patriarchy, misogyny was the perpetuation of that violence initially It’s the same way a queer person might be distrustful of someone who isn’t queer or how any person of color in America might be distrustful of white people It’s not about being a man, it’s about having been part of the oppressive class

That’s not to say men’s mental health doesn’t matter or they deserve to be hated constantly, but doing away with misandry is going to be a product of dismantling the patriarchal social standards on men and doing away with misogyny first

I disagree, if you’re referring to the male loneliness epidemic that’s not an issue caused by women hating men, from personal experience it comes from lacking a community, as soon as you find a community (and especially mixed gender communities) it does genuinely get a lot better If you’re suffering bc you feel like all women hate you I’m sorry and I hope it gets better

You’re right. Women should know their place. With taking care of babies first and easy jobs second if needed. I completely agree with you.

misogyny pushes women to misandry. guess which one existed first for centuries and is heavily engrained in culture

Absolute horrid take. You can literally look at how feminist/equality movements arose due to misogyny, and if that doesn’t prove how combating hate with love can cause change, idk what to tell you.

That’s just people killing people. Thats not someone being misogynistic, it’s murder. How many men die from war? Suicide? Failing bodies from working so hard? All part of the same sexist (and you could therefore say misandrist) system

its a result of misogyny though, look at Iran, Afganistan, many other countries
and how many women died from domestic abuse. A lot of men dont consider women anything other than sex objects. What you said does happen but not just because of misandary.

And what you said happens but not just bc of misogyny. More men are killed overall than women. The system is therefore rigged to allow more male death than female

is it not because men are more likely to do dumb shit that puts their life at risk? its not because of misandary, yes its the same society that oppresses women tells men to toughen up, im not denying that. But men has way more advantages than women.

Why is it a woman’s responsibility to handle MENS mental health? Take some accountability and grow up. You’re embarrassing

Men’s mental health has been an issue far longer than misandry has been popping up on our screens. And the original post makes perfect sense, it might just seem hard to hear. Misandry is horrible no doubt, but misogyny has been KILLING women. Deadass look at afganistan, women aren’t allowed to even show their faces or go to college? The Salem witch trials? Men don’t face that same discrimination? Who gets killed more in relationships? Who gets raped more?

Like bro I’m a guy and does it suck hearing women say they hate men? Sure. But comparing that to what women go through is the most out of touch shit I’ve ever heard. Even men that get raped or boys that get trafficked are for *majority* other men. And lets not try and pretend it isn’t true because how many of you would hire a 21yr old guy to babysit your 6-16yr daughter?

Source? I bring up misandry more than when just misogyny is brought up. Nice strawman. Systematic oppression is when boys clubs (boy scouts of america) allow girls but girls do not have reciprocation. Or when girls get their student athletics paid for by the boys programs. Or when girls don’t have to sign up for the draft to recieve fasfa
