I don’t think that’s weird but I personally like the idea of a nice engagement when he plans it and does his moment and then just going to the courthouse

I agree. I’ve been really clear with him about what I want. I’ve always wanted a real, planned proposal and an actual engagement period. I want time to experience being engaged, to say “my fiancé,” and to enjoy that stage before jumping into marriage. If we just go ahead and get married, it takes away from that for me. It makes the wedding feel less special, like what are we even building up to at that point?
