how about regardless of gender we all just act like adults and not talk shit on other people’s bodies? what we find attractive varies a lot from person to person, and at the end of the day no one really benefits from hearing “I think [insert trait] is ugly”

modern feminism is about gender equality not about gender superiority. in fact, feminism is about pushing back on societal standards that place the patriarchy as superior to women. feminism is the goal of gender equality for the workplace, domestic relationships, medical fields etc. because male comments have historically been rooted in the objectification and control of women’s bodies, women respond strongly to commentary about their and other women’s bodies.

that being said, it is a double standard to not allow both genders to express preferences, and that is not fair. but that is why there is a stronger reaction to men’s negative comments about women’s bodies and not women’s negative comments about men’s bodies.
