i got a face piercing and my professor (I don’t think he meant any harm) asked what my parents think and i got rlly awkward because both of my parents died pretty recently and ik he didn’t mean anything bad but it made me feel like shitt

this would be an incredibly rude and inappropriate comment even if your parents were fine, no excuse to say that to a student(so sorry for your loss i can't even imagine the pain) i might go to his boss about it

and you don't even have to explain the situation just tell them what your prof said only and they will see that its still inappropriate and unprofessional
