That’s an awful thing to say to someone and isn’t true at all. Whoever told you that just wants to hurt you and make you feel like you aren’t enough, but you are. I’m sorry your father didn’t give you the effort you deserved, but that is not and could not possibly be your fault. The choice to abandon parental responsibilities is the fault of the person making it, not the innocent child who couldn’t have done anything to deserve being abandoned. I’m sorry, but please don’t listen to that quote.
