Maybe it’s jealousy? Your friends are getting masters/doctorates and that’s pretty awesome and you feeling less than happy for them is probably jealousy. Best case you’re concerned about their finances, but if they got into graduate school they probably qualify for plenty of academic scholarships that will cover their schooling IF they make an effort to apply to any and all. If they get 20 $500 scholarships, it adds up.

i’m not jealous and i wouldn’t say i’m less than happy at all. i think it’s more of a feeling of being left behind and the fact that we’re taking on different paths of life after graduation

Well if your career would benefit then you could always do graduate schooling. If it wouldn’t then here’s the bright side: They are likely going to feel left behind by you and everyone else. While they’re still in school and studying, you’ll be already started in your career. They’ll probably be a bit broke, while you’re earning actual wages. That is unless you’re going into a low wage career like teaching or something. In that case you should probably do graduate schooling anyways.

graduate school isn’t for me. it’s not something i’ve ever thought about doing, at least not at anytime soon and i also just couldn’t afford it, at least not anytime soon. we’re all gonna be broke regardless though lmao, especially in this economy how is them feeling left behind a bright side 💀 i get that you’re trying to help(?) but uh idk if you are tbh

Not everyone will be broke. To go to school for four years just to have a low wage career is super dumb. Being broke is a choice. I meant bright side as in, on the flip side you’ll be “farther” ahead in life, not really celebrating them feeling bad. But if one wants to be miserable and broke then that’s their choice tbh. You have options to fix your “weird” feeling but you don’t seem to actually want to. Some people love to be unhappy so unfortunately there’s not much others can do to help.

i was joking about us all being broke, chill out dude. it’s not my fault if the career i want to go into happens to be low wage like wtf am i supposed to do about that?? my weird feelings are completely normal like it’s just what happens when people take different paths in life i don’t know you seem so personally affected by My feelings like what is happening 😭😭 i’m not even unhappy or miserable god forbid a bitch is a little melancholic around graduation

It literally is your fault though. Millions of people love to paint or love children, but they also use their brain to think long term. That means instead of an art or early education degree they get an accounting or engineering degree. Choosing your career (and wasting thousands) based on how much you like something vs your level of comfort is a very basic decision. I like art but I also like traveling, going out, and nice clothes. So I do art as a hobby but my major is engineering because $.

I don’t relate to wallowing in misery/melancholy. That’s what the people I previously mentioned like to do. If it’s a medical issue then I urge you to seek professional help, but if you’re just lazy and want to be sad for no reason when there are obvious solutions available to you, then don’t expect my sympathy. Like you’re grown I don’t need to hold your hand lol.

okay but i don’t want to do accounting or engineering and if everyone chose to do that we would have no teachers and where would that leave us? you also actually don’t even know what my major is. like alll of this is built on assumptions based off of nothing. i’m not gonna “waste money” on a degree for a career that pays good just to be miserable is said career for the rest of my life

They were examples. There are other degrees and career paths. Also you need to stop worrying about everyone else and worry about yourself at some point. If you make enough you can hire a private tutor or send your kid to a private school with a good student to teacher ratio. Your duty to YOURSELF is to be the best you can be, THEN you can worry about giving back. You can’t fill someone else’s cup if your pitcher is empty. Also you’re the one who said that you’ll be broke. Either way idrc.
