Diamonds are falsely marked up even when taken from the earth. If you want a genuinely precious stone go with emerald or sapphire/ruby (sapphire and ruby are the same mineral, ruby is just the red only.) White sapphires are a good alt for diamonds and can also be lab grown. If you want a clear white stone and are looking for more sparkle than a diamond go with moissanite.
Um yes they are? u need a car to drive to work (work= money, money= necessities), same for phones, they’re essential especially if you’re a young child or a woman. Now let’s say someone lived in an underdeveloped country like haiti (where i’m from) they wouldn’t need those things bc they’re on survival mode, americans are not.
Forgot to mention moissanite is only found naturally in some meteorites and stardust, so the story of your marriage is literally written by the stars when you choose it for your ring. Some people will recognize it as lab made because of its super refractive ability so it might do better in a smaller setting or as an accent/halo stone to really set off your main stone. I’m personally partial to a main colored stone and a white halo or even better a ring that symbolizes something personal.
Oh and unless you’re a person who wants to replace their ring/setting every few years don’t go with something below 7 in softness (amethyst - emerald are 7-8 respectively) sapphire is 9 & moissanite is 9.5, diamond is 10. If you don’t care, want to use a day ring & special ring, or want the excuse to upgrade, do what you like.
If you don’t want any refraction, true black moissanite will give you that but moissanite will work better than spinel for lasting, nothing shows scratches more than a really dark stone. If you’re looking for really dark aesthetic tungsten is awesome for rings & it’s gunmetal grey.
