weird confession. can anyone else relate? i am so insecure and feel so ugly that i stop myself from listening to what i can only describe as “hot girl music.” does this make sense? like, azalea banks, or rhianna, etc. i feel like an imposter when i do :(

I grew up feeling like this but my hot take (pun unintended) is that anyone can embody Hot Girl Energy if they want to, regardless of who they are or what they look like. someone else here mentioned Britney Spears, and I def didn’t really vibe with her music until I figured out how to be that version of myself

like i really enjoy some of the songs i hear, but i just don’t feel like i’m allowed to be listening to them. i love music. and want to enjoy it all. but i feel so out of place

I’ve always been big too, and what made the difference for me personally was switching up my fashion. cause fashion can practically be shapeshifting magic—if you don’t feel good about the size and shape of your body, the secret is to use clothing to create a silhouette you like better. once you’ve seen yourself in clothes that have that effect, it starts to get easier to make peace with how you naturally look

I would recommend setting aside some time to go try on clothes that are a little more revealing than what you’re accustomed to, even stuff you think might look ridiculous on you, and even if you can’t afford to spend much rn. the first step is just proving to yourself in private that it’s possible to look in the mirror and see someone who’s cuter than you were expecting!
