I know this is silly but i feel seriously insulted when a man calls me ma'am. Like everyone knows thats basically calling a woman old. Im literally 21 years old bro 😭

nah i’m 23 and some of my high school students call me ma’am and then turn around and talk about how young of a teacher i am, i think it’s much more of a respect than an age thing

Most ppl know that if you want to charm a woman call her miss. Calling someone ma'am imo seems outdated and lots of women i know feel hurt by it

Idk i think it might be a cultural thing. Most ppl where i live only call someone ma'am if they're being annoying or a karen. Like at work i call a woman ma'am if she is pissing me off and being rude to me

Yeah i get that. Respect is just def not the thing i think of first. Most ppl where i live dont care about formalities like that so hearing it come from 50 year old men is like a slap in the face lol
