I think they made two individual very strong female characters and showed true growth with loss. I don’t know what you’re going on about.

First: Amber wasnt even black in the comics and they still end up breaking up Secondly: They genuinely just didn't work for each other and it was clear that he was gonna be with Eve from the beginning.

eve didn't show true growth (at least not yet idk what happens for her in the future but hopefully she gets something better than what's happened so far). i'll say i didn't watch the eve special so maybe if i watched that i would feel differently but tbh why didn't they just write her better in the main storyline 😕

You said they failed to execute the "trope" even tho they're just following canon. Amber indeed was boring compared to Eve. Probably worth noting that the show hasn't even gotten that far with Eves story. I mean she just started dating Mark in S3 and barely made appearances in S4.

Definitely watch the Eve special. Mark is supposed to be the main character and where he comes from is what the show is about. How he keeps proving he is Invincible. Rip Conquest, not really.
