As a pet sitter and future vet, I’m not afraid to admit that 80% of people should not have dogs. A startling majority of the dogs I take care of don’t even know their name and are barely potty trained despite being multiple years old

i fostered rescue dogs for years and always taught them their name, “sit”, and where/when to go to the bathroom despite only having them for 2-6 weeks at a time. imagine my surprise when i learnt my friends dog OF EIGHT YEARS didnt know his name or “sit”! the ONLY thing he knows is to pee outside.

Animals are my life-blood and it makes me so upset to see poorly treated animals. I want dogs and cats but i’m not in a situation to provide and be there as much as I should, so I am waiting for their sake. It’s the same sorta general mindlessness you see around alot, people so set in their life they don’t care about anything else

it’s insane bc training a dog is not hard but people feel guilty for like saying no or not giving the dog a treat when that’s the only way it’ll work
