Genuinely I can’t stand being around dumb people. And I don’t mean like brain farts or even airheads to an extent, but the people who are illiterate, or who think it’s funny when they don’t understand basic concepts of how the world around them works

My favorite is when you present facts and people are too close minded to admit they are wrong or even consider the alternative

I’m not saying everyone needs to be super smart. But you should know basic information, and if you don’t, you shouldn’t be proud of that. I’ve met far too many people who don’t know basic info about the world they live in and it infuriates me that it doesn’t bother them

Idk how im straw manning. Im not attacking some sort of argument, just saying if you don’t understand very basic concepts about the world you live in, you should learn them. And not be proud or uncaring that you don’t know them.

Who tf is proud of being dumb though? Who is the “they” you’re talking about? Most of the dumb people I’ve met are just oblivious to their dumbness, not wearing it like a badge of honor.

I actually had a whole response typed up and then realized they might just be embarrassed and are playing it off with a laugh, not genuinely uncaring that they don’t understand something. Which means I definitely am a bit of an asshole, but I still get amazed when someone doesn’t know something I consider to be very basic knowledge, such as basic geography of where you live, basic science knowledge on the sun and moon.
